Common questions

How do lake packs work?

The app ships with lakes built in and works fully offline. Extra lakes are free, optional downloads: open Settings → Lake packs, tap a lake, and it downloads once (Wi-Fi recommended). After that it lives on your phone and works with no signal, forever.

A pack download failed — what do I do?

Can I import my own sonar logs?

Yes — Settings → Sonar logs accepts Lowrance .sl2/.sl3 and CSV exports. Your logs are processed on-device only and never leave your phone. Re-surveying the same water raises the confidence layer for your own map.

Where does the lake data come from?

Every lake names its sources on its lake card. Bathymetry is built from Ontario's published bathymetric surveys (Land Information Ontario) — measured sounding and contour surveys with their survey year shown. Fish-community information comes from the province's Broad-scale Monitoring netting program where coverage exists. Anything inferred by the model (for example substrate) is labeled as inferred. If data is old, the app says so.

My lake isn't covered — can I request it?

Yes. Use the lake request in search, or email us. Coverage grows in batches; surveyed lakes with published data come first.

Is it a navigation app?

No. Anglers Edge is an analysis instrument. Depths are charted values, not real-time, and the app carries a persistent "Analysis only — not for navigation" notice. Always carry official charts and required safety gear.

Data sources & licenses

Anglers Edge is built entirely from public, open-licensed data:

Each lake card in the app names its own survey source, year and data quality. Charted depths are analysis values, not real-time — always carry official charts.

What happens to my waypoints, catches and tracks?

They live only on your device. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. You can export them yourself (GPX/CSV) whenever you choose. Details are in the privacy policy.
